In the recent trouble that occured on the iphone 4 antenna, Samsung decided to turn that chance into good idea!

Exactly! That’s what I like to hear! You might think this kind of words might possibly come out only from a geek like me but this ain’t even a guy! It’s from my sweet girl who normally ain’t interested in that kind of technology goodies at all… That’s what I call the Android effect! Done by The Samsung Galaxy S!

I was gone for an HTC Desire, that only Android device that made it over the Nexus One in Europe. I knew the Samsung Galaxy S was going to roll out to the phone market but I wouldn’t think it would roll out so early in July. After some lucky guess, it happened to me that I decided to try some cellular shop where it showed a model of the newest Samsung. Thins is: they had two 8gb model in their backroom! And then? Well I got one of them with a Swisscom 2-year data plan for 169.90CHF. This wasn’t just a deal, this was the deal! And the deal goes to my lucky girl!!

Happy anniversary sweet Erica!

PS: I keep my Motorola Milestone hoping the Froyo system update will soon come out! ^-^v

There are lots of home replacements I have been trying for weeks, none of them were plenty satisfying: laggy, crap design, paid version, no update… A month ago LauncherPro came out from nowhere with a beta version that rules out all the other choices.

No lag at all and I should say it once again: it flies! I have to say it’s even smoother than the iPhone. Fully customizable, coolest features ever like the scrollable dock bar for shortcuts, 3D app drawer and it gets updates at least twice a week! You can’t ask more but LauncherPro gives you more than what you actually dare to expect: it’s free!

Download it on the Android Market or on the official website: www.launcherpro.com

The Milestone aka Droid’s been the most popular phones among the Android devices. That was surprising we haven’t noticed any “fake Milestone” so far. But Chinese engineers would never leave us on a blank page of cloning history, in fact here’s the very chinese Milestone! It runs on windows mobile 6.5 which is quite surprising since WM is a money-cost operating system and Android an open source and free OS.. anyway enjoy the view and know that this super copy runs on an 533 MHz processor with 256MB RAM.

Fring proudly released their newest application version which integrates video calling through IP. Your Android phone is now able to start a video chat wherever you have internet connection! Requirements are Android 1.5 or higher and a camera (back or front). Let’s not forget this exciting app is compatible with popular softwares such Skype, MSN or Gtalk! Fring is FREE to download on the Android market!

We’ve seen Qik showing off some video features a month ago and we’ve heard Skype announcing they’re developing a video conference capability for the coming days. It seems like the green dude is faster!

Since the Android 2.1 update, many Motorola Milestone owners have been facing common issues such as random reboot, random music starts, worst quality speech during calls, alarm which won’t start and battery fast drain. Not talking about the fact Motorola “censored” the freedom of the Milestone by locking down the bootloader preventing us in flashing any custom ROMs on it (while the American twin version Droid is totally free)…
I’ve been dealing with it for the past two months but it begins to bother the Milestone owners more than ever since the Google’s Nexus One is getting the innovating Android 2.2 Froyo while we are left aside by Motorola.
We, victims, have been constantly requesting a fix from Motorola for months and we haven’t got any solutions nor informations stating that their engineers are working on our concerns.
All this to say that we’ve tried the Motorola support forum, complaining on multiple websites and we’re still living on frustration.

Some of the customers tried to directly contact Motorola support service and got at best a phone replacement, but since I live in Switzerland and bought my phone in Hong Kong several months ago, I’m worried the swiss Motorola team would choose an easy solutions for them which would be: “Please contact your seller in Hong Kong for any support or phone replacement, best regards, Motorola – Switzerland”

Here’s the mail I sent today, I should be receiving an answer tomorrow:

“Dear customer support,
I live in Switzerland and I am a Swisscom customer. I bought a Motorola Milestone in February in Hong Kong, and my phone is under international warranty. It was running on android 2.0.1, it was awesome! Till the release of 2.1, I’ve updated it with the USB cable, then I got:
-random reboots
-bad quality speech
-random automatic music start (mp3 goes on during meetings)
-my alarm doesn’t ring till I press the power button to turn on the lockscreen
-the battery drains out in less than a day
I tried to make a hard-reset but it didn’t change anything. I also tried to re-install android 2.1 by using OTA and it’s still the same. My SIM-card is new from Swisscom.
I love the Milestone but I just cannot use it anymore because of the many issues I am having. I also read I am not the only one to have these troubles.
I would much appreciate if you could provide me any informations about any fixes or possible solutions.
With my best regards,
Luc Ka-Sing Ho”

I’ll update the story as soon as I get the story so I’ll be able to pass on my frustration on you guys: my visitors! ^_=

Good news for the coming-up Google I/O in about a week! Hottest topic would definitely be about the new Android Froyo! The 2.2 system will maybe make me forget all those bugs I’ve been living with my Motorola Milestone since the 2.1 update. Constant random reboot, crappy voice speaker quality, music playing randomly and the terrible “sleeping” alarm!

Actually I don’t have much wish for that release. Fixing these bugs would be a dream for a convenient use of the incredible potential of the Milestone. But what might be be added to these fixes is mainly the Flash 10.1 integration. Guess what? Watching TV series on chinese streaming site, isn’t that the greatest thing? In fact everybody’s talking about Flash in Froyo but let’s not forget all the other goodies that will come with! I am personally excited to know more about the new Linux kernel that uses less RAM. On top of that, the activation of JIT compiler will make everything runs faster by letting you use the battery longer! Other functionalities like FM radio and automatic applications update complete the main new features.

Talking about Froyo, a Flash dev posted a video testing the flash integration on a Nexus One. At the end of the test you can notice a funky new launcher which might definitely be the Froyo desktop!

Ok so this is a bit late, especially since I’m a week from my medschool examination.. but I just couldn’t wait to try this awesome application found before I even got into WordPress! I said awesome yes!
Goodnight folks!
